With increasing rates of medical intervention and in particular, Caesarean sections, the Maternally Assisted Caesarean enhances a woman’s interaction with the birth process.
This type of caesarean allows a mother to reach down and bring her newborn immediately onto her chest, allowing for important early bonding and delayed cord clamping. It is incredibly satisfying for all involved.
I had the privilege of performing the first Maternally Assisted Caesarean at Frances Perry House over a year ago, and since then I have had the privilege of performing many more. It is a wonderful way to help a woman interact in her birth process.
